Roxstar Productions | The Beginning of an Era

My Awesome-Yet-Sorta-Fake Design Company!
www.roxstarproductions.com | established circa 2001

Okay, so when i say "sorta" I actually mean "really". It's not that I don't want it to be real though, so that's good right? Like many projects in my life, I have attempted many a times in making an honest living out of the Roxstar Productions concept. Sometimes it's just soooooo hard keeping motivated though. Well, that and not knowing exactly what R.P. is, or could be.

The only thing I know is that I really REALLY like the name, and that I can definitely see launching it in the near future. Now that I'm getting back into the whole design/photo/artsy stuff again, I'm thinking of making it into my own free-lance web design gig. I'll hook it up with site designs I've created over the years, along with case studies, testimonials, etc. (sort of how it's set up now, but MUCH better and professional).

At any rate (that phrase still bothers me sometimes), Roxstar Productions will be a force to reckon with! (now THAT phrase i like) In the meantime, however, do take a click and explore what's currently featured on it. It's somewhat fun...if you like that sorta stuff.

 The F-a-b-u-l-o-u-s Sites Currently Featured
www.x-ris.comwww.x-ris.com
My all time most favorite site in the entire world! (except for this one ofcourse) Not to be confused with "xris".com, it's pretty much been the home of my Design & Photography Portfolio since year 2000, and has endured 15 or so re-designs thus far. Being my first ever purchased domain name, it will always and forever be close to my heart. Wow...I sound like a huge dork right now. Anywho, if you so desire, you can check out the old school versions of it, since day 1, in my archives.

This is my mom's 2006 Xmas present: Her online art portfolio. A chunk of her original watercolor paintings are featured on it, along with a mini bio, pictures of family members, and a contact form. As cool as I think it is, I'd venture to guess mom was probably more happy with the fact that i utilized my hard earned college education to concoct the whole thing. Works for me!

www.sendusyourpen.comwww.sendusyourpen.com
The most BRILLIANT site my boy and I ever made (shout out to Sundy). Featured on collegehumor.com at one time, & receiving 40,000+ hits,it was designed to help fellow W.W.W. users participate in publishing our coffee table book by mailing in pens with company names inscribed on them. A concept originally meant to merely promote the book, it actually brought in MORE pens than we found ourselves! Sadly, not much attention has been paid to it in recent years. And no, the book is not in stores yet, in case you were wondering.
www.rockthehawk.com
One of my newest endeavors, this site portrays one of the most highly regarded, sought after, & important styles ever to grace the planet: the hawk. Joking aside, it's seriously the best place for those who are illiterate, ADD, or all 3. If you can move and click the mouse, you have the ability to stimulate your mind AND perhaps pick up a few hair tips. (I seriously came up with this bio my first go around. W-O-W)

You were burned! Just like a few katrillion other sites out there, this is/was/may be my attempt at gathering all those debauchery-ish "practical jokes" out on the web, and displaying them in a nice and formidable way. Although still in phase 1, it'll have a few upgrades coming it's way, as Beyonce would say. Yup. You know, I thought i'd have a lot more things to say about this....very interesting.

Home to one of the most bad a$$, silliest, & at times, ridiculously raunchiest college magazines in the history of the Universe...i mean University, this was THE paper to read. Beautifully handcrafted by Alex P. Vessels at our alma mater, James Madison University, I was proud to serve on staff and promote this incredibily addicting 'zine through the creation of this site. And, in case you couldn't tell, this was also one of my very first sites built.  *No longer at turfmagonline.com, but still accessible through this site.

i love nova*www.ilovenova.com
Ah yes, my 3 month stint as a real estate agent. Besides what the title so obviously suggests ("nova" stands for "Northern Virginia" for you out of town folk), I also enjoyed helping friends purchase real estate. But after 3 long months, and 2 purchases under my belt, it was time to move on. And although I turned in my Weichert badge, I still hold onto both my pride (I think?), and this site...which apparently I have also yet to complete.  *No longer at ilovenova.com, but still accessible through this site.
www.princessannie.com
Last year's "Romantic Present of the Year" to my now fiancee. (guess it worked!) Some might say it's only a one page, one image "website", if you can call it that, but I tend to see it as the sexiest dedication ever...and in fact I do indeed believe it's a "website". Not only is it asthetically pleasing to the eye, but it will soon bloom into a beautiful & stunning butterfly. Or, in html-coding words, a graphically intense, highly informational folder of hand-coded web pages.

As with many of my sites, it is hard to let go of those you feel are well-designed. Although no longer actively sending around, I liked the way everything was pretty much set up. Going into the second half of my twenties now, however, the ghetto picture and the "Although my dream of being a "Roxstar" is still on the prowl...." text are probably not the best of things to showcase to potential employers. That's crazy talk, i know!

Remember when I mentioned letting go of sites? Yeah, this is another. Not so much for the whole design aspect of it all though....more like I sooooooooo loved the time of my life when making this! As you can see, my boys and I had a pretty good go at it back in the day. Man, seriously, we had some crazy fun times right after college let out...that is, ofcourse, after I stopped crying about being in the "real world". I am still a bit uncertain as to what that may be.
